Jayden Higgins attended Westminster Christian School in Palmetto Bay, Florida, where he played both football and basketball. Higgins earned all-county honors as a junior, tallying 27 receptions for 490 yards and four touchdowns. He had a solid senior season as well, collecting 23 catches for 430 yards and five touchdowns before committing to Eastern Kentucky.
As as true freshman, Higgins hauled in 29 passes for 394 yards and three touchdowns for Eastern Kentucky. He took his game to another level as a sophomore, he caught 58 passes for 757 yards and 10 touchdowns. At the end of his sophomore season, Higgins entered the transfer portal and transferred to Iowa State.
Higgins was able to step right in at Iowa State and pick up where he left off in his sophomore season. The junior played in 13 games, making 12 starts, and finished with 53 receptions for 983 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 18.5 yards per catch, the seventh-best single-season average in school history. He was named Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
