Nic Anderson was born in Katy, Texas and attended Katy High School where he played football and ran the 110-meter hurdles for the track team. He helped Katy to the Texas 6A D-II state championship as a junior grabbing 29 receptions for 529 yards and five touchdowns during his senior season on a run-heavy team. He was rated a four-star prospect coming out of high school, originally committing to Oregon but later flipped his commitment to the University of Oklahoma.
Anderson dressed for three games as a true freshman and took a redhirt after producing no stats. As a redshirt freshman, Anderson began seeing regular playing time and he made the most of it. He played in all 13 games, including starting the last six, and caught 31 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged 21.0 yards per catch and set a school record for touchdown receptions by a freshman. After the season he was named a freshman All-American by The Athletic.
Anderson has injured his quad and has missed several games in 2024.
