Savion Williams attended Marshall High School in Texas, where he played wide receiver until his senior year when he was moved to quarterback. He was rated a four-star recruit and the No. 28 wide receiver in the nation by 247Sports. While at Marshall High School, Williams also lettered in basketball and track and field. The high school senior chose TCU over offers from Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech, Arkansas and SMU.
As a true freshman in 2020, Williams led TCU in kick return average with a 22.3 yard average. He also hauled in one pass for eight yards in seven games for the Horned Frogs. In 2021, Williams no longer returned kicks and was only on the field in a limited reserve role. He finished his sophomore season with six receptions for 71 yards.
Williams became a full-time starter in 2022 for TCU, starting in all 15 games and registering 29 receptions for 392 yards and four touchdowns. He started 11 games in 2023 and saw a rise in the amount of targets he was getting. He set a career high with 41 receptions for 573 yards and four touchdowns. At the end of the 2023 season, Williams announced he would be back at TCU for his fifth and final season of eligibility.
