Seth McLaughlin attended Buford High school in Georgia, where he played center and was considered a three-star prospect during his senior season. McLaughlin held offers from schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, and Florida State. Late in his senior year, he committed to the University of Alabama.
As a true freshman in 2020, McLaughlin played only two games in a reserve role for the Crimson Tide. In 2021, McLaughlin played in 10 games while making three starts. By the end of the season it was easy to see that McLaughlin was a part of the future for the Crimson Tide. In 2022, McLaughlin started eight of the 11 games at center for Alabama, and was part of one of the Nation's best offensive line units.
Everything clicked into place in 2023 for the 6-foot-4 center. He started all 14 games and was on the Rimington Trophy watch list, which is given out to the nation's best center. One of the most impressive things about McLaughlin's time at Alabama was his academic achievements. He graduated in 2.5 years Summa Cum Laude from Alabama with a 4.00 grade point average and a degree in finance. After the 2023 season, McLaughlin continued his collegiate football career by transferring to Ohio State University.
