Tai Felton attended Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia where he was a wide receiver. He had a breakout sophomore season, hauling in 50 receptions for 1,050 yards and 13 touchdowns. During his high school career he was named First Team All-State, First Team All-Region and First Team All-County. Rated a three-star recruit, Felton committed to the University of Maryland.
As a freshman, Felton played sparingly in eight games, hauling in five passes for 51 yards. He became part of the wide receiver rotation during his sophomore season, playing in all 13 games with six starts and totaling 23 receptions for 309 yards and two touchdowns. Felton started all 13 games as a junior, and led the team in receiving touchdowns with six. He finished the season hauling in 48 passes for 723 yards.
