Zach Edey played high school basketball at Leaside Hight School in Toronto before moving to Bradenton, Florida to play at IMG Academy. During his senior year he was recruited to Purdue as a three-star recruit.
During his first year at Purdue, Edey was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team after averaging 8.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.
He became the starting center in his sophomore year and was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten team after averaging 14.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
It was during his junior season that Edey took his game to new heights. He averaged 22.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. He was named the AP Player of the Year in 2022-2023.
Edey decided to come back to Purdue and try and strengthen his draft stock. He did just that by leading Purdue to the National Championship game and averaging a career high in points with 25.2 points per game. He was once again named the AP Player of the Year for 2023-2024.
