The quarterbacks were the talk of the 2024 NFL draft and several records were broken this year.
-For the first time in NFL history 4 quarterbacks went in the top 8 and 5 quarterbacks went inside the top 10.
-the 6 quarterbacks taken in the first round tied the mark set in 1983.
The draft started very quarterback heavy, but from pick No. 12 Bo Nix to Denver, to pick 150 the Saints selected Spencer Rattler, there were no other quarterbacks taken. Breaking the record with 137 picks in between quarterback selectons.
Before this year, the record for consecutive picks without a quarterback being selected occurred in 1972. That year there were 126 picks in-between quarterback selections.
The 2024 NFL Draft was held in Detroit, Michigan and its attendance broke a record set in 2019.
Over 775,000 fans attended the draft this year, according to the AP. Shattering the previous record of 600,000, which was set in Nashville during the 2019 draft.

It seems likely that the Atlanta Falcons are going to face tampering charges in the wake of their high-profile quarterback addition, Kirk Cousins.
After Cousins committed to the Falcons during a time referred to as the legal tampering period, multiple comments from the 13th-year veteran point to Atlanta being early on communicating with its next starter. No punishment has been handed out, but as last year's Jonathan Gannon resolution reminded us, the NFL could attempt to levy the penalty on draft day, burying the headline.
The NFL is also investigating the Philadelphia Eagles and their signing of running back Saquon Barkley. Though the evidence has not been as strong is this case.
The two items in the Cousins case that got the NFL's attention were
1- Cousins said he spoke with Falcons medical personnel before officially signing.
2- Cousins also said during his introductory presser that he offered to call wide receiver Darnell Mooney to make a pitch on the Falcon's behalf. With Mooney committing to the Falcons on Day 2 of the legal tampering period, Cousins--whose deal did not become official until a day later--is not allowed to recruit under NFL rules.
The Cardinals have already obtained three additional picks from Rounds 1-3 in this draft by trading down . Arizona sliding down helped Houston and Tennessee end up with Will Anderson Jr. and Will Levis last year. With the Cardinals not needing a QB has made this year's #4 pick desirable to quarterback needy teams.
With that being said, the Cardinals have had discussions about moving from No. 4 with several teams. The teams linked to this pick have been the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Like last season, the Cardinals have said they will not move this pick until they are on the clock. Though the team hopes to have trade parameters worked out ahead of their pick.
The Jets have traded quarterback Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos as part of a Day 3 pick swap.
The Jets acquire pick No. 203 and the Broncos get Wilson and pick No. 256. Both clubs will evenly split Wilson's $5.45MM in 2024 compensation.
Wilson was the #2 overall pick by the Jets in the 2021 NFL Draft, but has never been able to find his footing in New York during his playing time.
In his career with the Jets he has played in 34 games and has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns (25-23).
In Denver he will battle Jarrett Stidham for the starting job. It is very possible that Denver still used their first round pick on a quarterback as well.

Malik Nabers ran a 4.32 at this LSU pro day and solidified his top-10 pick status. The wide receiver out of LSU has already met with the Patriots, Titans, Jets, Jaguars, Giants, and Cardinals.
Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison, Jr. is still expected to be the first wide receiver off the board and with a bunch of teams looking at quarterbacks at the top of the draft, Nabers will have teams chopping at the bit for him around pick 7. A good landing spot for Nabers could be at pick #7 to the Tennessee Titans. Last season Nabers established himself as one of the most dynamic receivers in the country. He finished the season with 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Draft Nation Stats- First round pick (1st overall) out of South Carolina by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels threw at his pro day but did not test in any other areas. He is already scheduled for six team visits. The Commanders, Patriots, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders are scheduled so far. The Bears are not one of the teams scheduled which is noteworthy to them staying pat and selecting quarterback Caleb Williams out of USC. Draft Nation believes that Daniels will go either #2 to the Commanders or #3 to the Patriots. The Washington Commanders could trade back and gain some draft capital from a team who wants to move up and select him.
The Los Angeles Rams have signed cornerback Tre'Davious White to a one-year, 8.5MM deal with a maximum value of $10MM.
The Rams continue to rebuild their secondary and will line up White across from Darious Williams, who was signed earlier in free agency from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Former New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris retired at 27-years-old.
Harris entered the NFL after a four-year collegiate career at the University of Alabama. He sat behind Derrick Henry as a true freshman . Over the next two seasons, he rushed for 2,040 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Crimson Tide.
He was selected in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. His best season was in 2021 when he ran for 929 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Last season in Buffalo he only played in 6 games after suffering an awkward looking neck injury in mid-October that cost him the rest of the season. It is not certain if this was the reason the 27-year-old retired.
Draft Nation Stats- 3rd round pick out of Alabama by the New England Patriots in the 2019 draft.
The owner of the New York Giants John Mara ok's drafting a first round quarterback with the 6th overall pick in this year's draft.
Daniel Jones appeared to be the starting quarterback for the sixth year in a row. However, Jones has yet to play a full season and other than his 2022 season when he threw for over 3,000 yards and completed 67.2 % of his passes, he has been very inconsistent.
The team has already hosted J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan and Drake Maye from Carolina and sit in a quality spot to obtain one of them.
As Jones works his way back from a torn ACL, it is now apparent the team will add to the quarterback room. Up until now Mara has been adamant about his belief in Jones, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out and if this is just smoke to try and trade down in the draft.
The NFL has passed a hybrid kickoff rule which is similar to the XFL.
The vote passed 29-3, with the Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers being the only dissenting votes.
The hybrid kickoff rule allows for ten non-kickers on the kicking team to line up at the opponent's 40-yard line.
The receiving team has to place at least seven of its players between its own 30- and 35-yard lines in the "set up zone." They are permitted to allow a maximum of two players in the "landing zone" between the goal line and 20-yard line.

The game will kick off at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, Aug. 1, during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week in Canton, Ohio.
The other inductees in this year's class are Dwight Freeney, Randy Gradishar and Patrick Willis. The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place Saturday, Aug. 3.
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran quarterback Kyle Allen to a free agent deal. Allen has 19 starts on his resume and will serve as the teams #3 quarterback.
The Steelers also signed defensive lineman Dean Lowry to a contract. Lowry is an eight-year veteran who started several seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
The NFL owners approved a rule that will prohibit the "hip-drop" tackle and will make it a 15-yard penalty and an automatic first down.
Here's the description of the new rule:
" If the defender grabs the runner with both hands or wraps the runner with both arms: and unweights himself by swiveling and dropping his hips and/ or lower body, landing on and trapping the runner's leg(s) at or below the knee."
The NFLPA opposed the rule proposal last week, but it got enough support from owners to pass.
The Pittsburgh Pirates #1 pick from the 2023 MLB Draft Paul Skenes will start the season at AAA Indianapolis.

The Texas Rangers announced that last year's first round pick Wyatt Langford is going to be on the opening day roster for the Texas Rangers. Langford, 22, entered Friday with a .388 average, .446 on-base percentage, 6 homers and 19 RBIs in 49 Cactus League at-bats. The Rangers selected the outfielder out of the University of Florida with the fourth overall pick in last year's amateur draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs are trading cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick swap, a league source confirmed. The trade is pending a physical for Sneed.
The Baltimore Orioles announced Friday they had reassigned Jackson Holliday to their minor league camp, meaning the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 amateur draft won't start the season in the majors. Holliday, 20, is the son of former seven-time All-Star outfielder Matt Holliday and is regarded as one of baseball's top overall prospects.
The G League Ignite will not play after this season. The primary factors for the decision include the adaptation of the NCAA's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules, the introduction of collectives and the evolving landscape of the transfer portal.
