Today’s Spotlight - Oregon State- 2B/SS, Travis Bazzana

Bazzana attended Turramurra High School in Australia and llettered in cricket while playing for the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League from 2018 to 2021. He then made the jump to the US, making his way to Oregon State.
Bazzana made an immediate impact as a freshman, getting 245 at bats and batting .306 with .478 slugging. He drove in 44 RBI and hit 6 home runs on the year, earning al All-Pac 12 First Team and Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American selections.
As a sophomore, he had 238 more at bats and hit for a .378 average with .622 slugging. He hit 11 home runs and drove in 55 runs on the year, earning another All-Pac 12 First Team selection.
Bazzana is a junior this season and is on pace to have his best season yet by far. As. junior this season he is hitting .424 and has hit 26 homers for the Beavers.
Strengths
There are many strengths in Bazzana's game as he is well rounded, potential 5-tool player and that skill set is the reason he is so high on draft boards. He has great contact skills and has vastly increased the consistency of his power at the plate. He is speedy and uses it well to steal bags and play with exceptional defensive range at second base. He is selective at the plate, rarely expanding the zone and drawing more walks than strikeouts so far in his college career.
Weaknesses
Bazzana has average arm strength in the field. Scouts have waited to see him play extended innings at shortstop, but the opportunity has not presented itself for Travis quite yet. His average arm will likely limit his versatility in the field, allowing him to play second base and possibly third at the next level.
Bazzana has very few holes in his game. His increased slugging ability has moved him to the top of draft boards and is sure to draw more attention to his play this season. He will likely battle for the first overall selection this season, and may win that battle due to his great attitude and leadership in the clubhouse.
