Drafted- 6th round (178th pick by Pittsburgh)
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected defensive lineman Logan Lee out of Iowa in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Lee was a three-star defensive lineman out of Orion High School in Illinois. In the past 3 seasons at Iowa he has started all 40 games and in 2022 and 2023 he was named All-Big 10 Honorable mention.
Logan Lee has the ability to play all along the defensive line for the Pittsburgh Steelers and is willing to do whatever is asked of him.
"Wherever they ask me is where I see myself," said Lee.
Lee grew up a Steelers fan, a team he rooted for because one of his closest friends was a fan of the black and gold.
"I grew up a huge Steelers fan my whole life," said Lee. "I am beyond blessed. I started really getting into the thick of the historical NFL stuff. I just loved the Steel Curtain era stuff. I loved watching Mel Blount slam people on their heads and stuff. I was always a big Steelers fan growing up.”
The defensive line was a definite need for Pittsburgh in this year’s draft. Cam Heyward is still productive but his career is winding down and he will eventually need to be replaced. Last season the Steelers drafted Keeanu Benton in the 2nd round and he quickly became a productive member of the defensive line and he will start alongside Heyward in 2024.
Other than Heyward and Benton, the Steelers lack depth on the defensive line and Logan Lee’s versatility will be a welcome addition for Pittsburgh.
Here is a look at Draft Nation’s scouting profile on Logan Lee
Lee shows great strength in the pass rush and has fantastic hand use. His first step is quick off the snap as he shows burst to beat his blockers. He also has versatility in that he can play both inside and outside on the line, while having the athleticism to move fluidly around the edge.
Lee may have great strength on the edge, but he is a tweener, too large for a traditional edge yet undersized for a DT. Because he is a bit more lengthy and taller than most defensive ends, he takes unnecessarily round angles around the edge at times. Lee has the frame to add more weight too and the Steelers may ask him to do just that.
