Each week during the 2024 college football season Draft Nation will take a look at six players who helped their draft stock with solid performances. As the season progresses, Draft Nation will start to zoom in on first round talent.
Here is the six pack from this past week:
Boise State- Running Back, Ashton Jeanty
It is impossible to keep Ashton Jeanty off of our six-pack because right when fans think he can’t do anything more he does. He ran for 259 yards and four touchdowns against Washington State, leading No. 25 Boise State to a 45-24 victory. Jeanty already has 845 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns in just four games for the Broncos.
Jeanty is on a short list with Miami, Fla quarterback Cameron Ward and Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter as leaders in the Heisman race. Jeanty is having the kind of season not seen in some time and he could challenge Oklahoma State’s Barry Sanders’ record of 2,628 yards. Jeanty is averaging 211.3 yards per game and is a solid candidate to get drafted early in the draft, perhaps as high as the top ten like former Texas running back Bijan Robinson did in 2023.
Utah- Wide Receiver, Dorian Singer
Dorian Singer has gotten lost in the shuffle since hauling in 66 receptions for 1,105 yards for Arizona in 2022. He transferred the year after to USC and was not able to crack the starting lineup with an ultra-talented Trojans receiver core. After 2023 he transferred again, this time to the University of Utah. This past weekend in a 23-10 loss to one of his former teams (Arizona), Singer was unstoppable hauling in nine passes for 155 yards. He runs excellent routes and has very reliable hands. His speed is not elite and will likely keep him from being more than a late round pick.
Alabama- Quarterback, Jalen Milroe
College Football’s biggest game of the year was played on Saturday, and Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe proved to every scout out there that he should be considered in that top group of quarterback’s coming out in 2025.
Against a Georgia defense loaded with NFL prospects, Milroe was 27-33 for 374 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The redshirt junior also showed his dual-threat ability and athleticism by rushing for 117 yards and scoring two more times in Alabama’s 41-34 victory over the Bulldogs. Draft Nation has Milroe as a second-round prospect who reminds draftniks of ex-Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts. His performance against Georgia will continue building up his resume towards a possible first round pick in 2025.
Alabama- Wide Receiver, Ryan Williams
Jalen Milroe is not the only Alabama player who had a huge game this past weekend against Georgia. Freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams, only 17-years-old, played like a seasoned veteran in tearing up the Georgia secondary. Williams hauled in six passes for 177 yards and one touchdown. On the season Williams has now caught 16 passes for 462 yards, which is an astonishing 28.9 yards per reception. The 6-foot-0 wide receiver is electric and has proven to be impossible to cover. He has blazing speed and comes in and out of his breaks like he has been doing it for years. Pay close attention to Williams for at least the next two seasons. He should be a name called by the commissioner early in 2028.
Penn State- Edge Rush, Abdul Carter
Penn State’s Abdul Carter is having the season he needed to cement his first round ticket in 2025. In Penn State’s 21-7 victory over Illinois, Carter had four tackles and two sacks and was in the backfield for much of the game against the Fighting Illini. The junior is playing his first season as an edge rusher after playing the previous two at linebacker. His versatility will go a long way in the NFL. He explodes off the snap and offers defensive coordinators several different ways they can use him in coverages and or blitz packages.
Oklahoma- Linebacker, Kip Lewis
Redshirt sophomore linebacker from Oklahoma Kip Lewis had a memorable game against Auburn this past weekend. With 4:06 to go in the game and Oklahoma down 21-16, Lewis picked off a pass and took it 63 yards to the house to put Oklahoma ahead, and they eventually won 27-21. Lewis is undersized at 6-foot-1 and 215 lbs but he plays with an aggressive demeanor and an explosiveness that should put him on scouts’ radar in 2026. Lewis reminds some of Ryan Shazier but needs to add 10-15 lbs of muscle to be able to withstand the rigors of the NFL.
