Cameron Ward is a 4th-year Junior quarterback entering his 3rd full season as a starter. He spent his first two collegiate seasons at Incarnate Word (FCS) after receiving no other D1 offers out of high school before getting the opportunity to transfer into FBS with Washington State in 2022.
Both teams have given Ward the opportunity to lead volume-heavy passing attacks, and he has put up solid numbers given the general lack of talent around him. While his production dipped as expected, going from FCS to FBS competition, Ward proved he belonged at the top level and helped lead the Cougars to a 7-6 record and a second consecutive bowl berth.
This season, Ward put up some impressive numbers as he threw for 3,736 yards in an offense that averaged the fourth most passing yards per game in the NCAA. However, in a crowded and very talented conference, Washington State finished 5-7. He entered the transfer portal and signed with Miami (FL) for 2024.
Ward stepped right into the starting role at quarterback and had a sensational season for the Hurricanes. The fifth-year senior threw for 4,123 yards and 36 touchdowns while throwing seven interceptions. Ward also added four rushing touchdowns for Miami and would eventually finish third for the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
