Jarquez Hunter was named Mississippi Mr. Football after putting up monster numbers his senior season at Neshoba Central High School. His numbers included 1,687 rushing yards and 2,069 total yards. He scored 93 career touchdowns to break the school record held by Marcus Dupree. The 3-star prospect cashed in his big senior season and committed to Auburn University.
Hunter had a very productive true freshman season. He ran for 597 yards and 3 touchdowns and also hauled in 12 receptions, scoring another touchdown. Hunter was named to the SEC all-freshman team after his stout season.
He spent his sophomore season as a rotational running back and once again averaged over 6 yards per carry (6.4). On the season, he totaled 668 yards on the ground, scoring 7 touchdowns. Hunter once again showed his receiving ability, adding 17 catches and 2 touchdown receptions.
Jarquez Hunter had a very solid 2023, taking over the reins as the number one back for the Tigers. He ran for 909 yards and 7 touchdowns, showing off his versatility hauling in 18 passes for 118 yards, and has proved his three-down ability.
