Jonathon Brooks had a very productive high school career and produced video game type numbers for Hallettsville High School. He ran for 3,530 yards and 62 touchdowns during his senior year and had 4,054 all-purpose yards. He was named Mr. Texas High School Football Player of the Year for those gaudy numbers. Brooks wasted no time committing to the University of Texas and playing football close to home.
Brooks played 4 games in his freshman season, running the ball 21 times for 143 yards and 1 touchdown. Last season as a redshirt freshman, he played in 7 games and rushed the ball 30 times for 197 yards and 5 touchdowns.
In his first full season in 2023, Jonathon Brooks has shown the ability to lead an offense as a workhorse running back. He rushed for 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns, while hauling in 25 passes for the Longhorns. He suffered a late season torn ACL against TCU but he has put himself in 1st-2nd round discussion with his performance.
