Williams attended Winston Woods in Forest Park, Ohio and was a consensus three-star prospect. He finished his career with 5,823 yards and 68 touchdowns. He was named the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association Southwest District Division II offensive player of the year during his senior season. He originally committed to Iowa State but changed his commitment and elected to play football at Ohio State.
During his true freshman season in 2020, Williams ran the ball 10 times for 64 yards. Ohio State had Trey Sermon and Master Teague getting most of the carries during the season and only used him in clean up situations. In 2021, he played in 10 games and shared carries with Teague and TreVeon Henderson, finishing the season with 507 yards on 71 attempts and 3 touchdowns.
Last season, he led Ohio State in rushing with 825 yards and 14 touchdowns, getting a bulk of the handoffs in a talented Buckeyes backfield.
In 2023, Williams had his season cut short due to a knee injury early in the year which required season-ending surgery. In his 49 carries on the year, he totaled 158 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Buckeyes.
