Bhayshul Tuten played prep football at Paulsboro High School in New Jersey, where he had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons as a junior and a senior. In 2020, he was the South Jersey Time Football Offensive Player of the Year. For his high school career he had 3,768 yards and 77 touchdowns and committed to North Carolina A&T to play college football.
As a true freshman at North Carolina A&T, he played in 11 games with one start, and rushed for 215 yards on 37 carries with three touchdowns.Tuten broke out in 2022, rushing for the fifth-best single season performance in A&T history. He finished the season with 1,363 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning FCS third-team All-America honors, as well as All-Big South first-team honors.After the 2022 season, Tuten transferred to Virginia Tech.
In his first season with Virginia Tech, he started all 13 games and rushed for 863 yards and 10 touchdowns. Tuten also hauled in 27 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns, while returning 19 kicks for 550 yards and two touchdowns. The junior Hokie was one of five FBS players to record two-plus return touchdowns.
