Jason Marshall Jr. attended Miami Palmetto High School in Pinecrest, Florida, where he played both offense and defense. Marshall was rated a five-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, while also being named the No. 2 cornerback and No. 27 overall prospect in the country. Marshall chose Florida over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Ohio State and Oklahoma among others.
In 2021, Marshall appeared in all 13 games, starting at defensive back in seven of those contests. He finished his freshman season with 21 tackles and one interception. He became the Gators starting cornerback entering the 2022 season and started all 13 games for Florida. He collected 29 tackles, eight pass breakups, one tackle for a loss and one interception. He once again started every game in 2023 for Florida, and led the team with a career-high 10 pass breakups. He also tallied 26 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and one sack.
