Josh Conerly Jr. attended Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, Washington where he played football as an offensive lineman and was ranked a five-star recruit and one of the top recruits nationally. Besides lettering four years in football, Conerly also played basketball in high school. During his senior season, he was invited to the Polynesian Bowl, and All-American Bowl, as well as MaxPreps All-American, first team all-state, and Washington Offensive Lineman of the Year honors. Ranked as one of the top-35 players in the nation, as well as the consensus best recruit in the state, he committed to play college football for the Oregon Ducks.
As a true freshman in 2022, Conerly appeared in 13 games for the Ducks. Conerly started all 14 games as a sophomore, leading the team with 901 total offensive snaps played. He earned all-Pac-12 honorable mention recognition by the league's coaches. He anchored an Oregon offensive line that led the nation with just five sacks allowed, and tied for third nationally with just 44.0 tackles for loss allowed.
