Josh Simmons was born in San Diego, California and prepped at Madison High School before moving to Helix High School where he played football. Simmons was rated as a consensus four-star recruit by 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN and committed to play football at San Diego State University.
After redshirting in 2021, Simmons started all 13 games in 2022 at right tackle for Sand Diego State. After the season he entered the transfer portal and committed to play football at Ohio State University.
In his first season with the Buckeyes, he started all 13 games at left tackle after beating out Tegra Tshabola for the job. After his stellar play he was named an honorable All-Big 10.
In 2024, Simmons started the first five games at left tackle, but was injured in week five's game against Oregon and missed the rest of the season. Simmons declared for the NFL Draft after the season and is expected to be healthy and ready to play by the time training cap rolls around in 2025.
