Kyshawn George was born and grew up in Monthey, Switzerland. He was part of the team that won the Swiss U16 basketball championship in 2016 and later moved to France playing four years with the club Elan Chalon. George played mainly for the U18 team from 2019-2020 to 2020-2021 before then playing for the U21 team in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. He averaged 17.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game with the team in 2022-2023, being named first-team All-U21 Espoir Pro B.
During high school he had a growth spurt, going from 5'8" to 6'7" by the time he entered college. He committed to play college basketball in the United States for the Miami Hurricanes in April 2023 and was ranked a three-star prospect. George started as a backup for the Hurricanes, before becoming a starter midway through his freshman season. He finished the season playing in 31 games and averaging 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
After the season, George decided to enter the NBA Draft.
