Trey Amos attended Catholic High School in New Iberia, Louisiana, where he played quarterback and cornerback. Amos was a multi-sport athlete who lettered in basketball, football and track and field. He was the class 2A state champion in the long jump on a leap of 22 feet, 9.75 inches. He helped Catholic High School make it to the finals of the playoffs and was named 7-2A District MVP in 2018.
Amos was a four-star recruit who committed to play college football at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
In his freshman season, Amos played in 11 games and collected 10 tackles and one interception for the Ragin' Cajuns. As a sophomore in 2021, the youngster totaled 14 tackles in 10 games including two tackles for a loss. He shined in year three at Louisiana, registering 35 tackles and eight passes defended in 11 games.
After the season Amos entered the transfer portal and transferred to teh University of Alabama for the 2023 season. For the Crimson Tide he played in all 14 games with one start and finished the season with 12 tackles and five passes defended. After the 2023 season, he re-entered the transfer portal and decided to transfer to Ole Miss for his last year of eligibility.
