Wyatt Milum grew up in Kenova, West Virginia and attended Spring Valley High School where he was a top football and baseball player. He was selected all-state three times, including two first-team selections as a junior and a senior. Milum allowed no sacks in his high school career and was ranked a four-star recruit and the top right tackle nationally. During his senior year he received and invitation to the All-American Bowl and was named the MaxPreps West Virginia Player of the Year. He decided to stay home and committed to West Virginia University.
As a true freshman in 2021, Milum played in 12 games, eight as a starter at right tackle, and was selected a Freshman All-American by several outlets. Milum was moved to left tackle before his sophomore season and he started all 12 games for the Mountaineers.
Milum made a name for himself in 2023, starting all 12 games and not allowing a quarterback sack or a quarterback hit. He was named All-Big 12 conference second team. After the season, Milum announced he'd be coming back for his senior season.
