Monk attended Corinth Holders High School in North Carolina. He earned a 4-star rating from 247 Sports, and 3-star ratings from rivals.com and ESPN. He chose to join Duke over a plethora of other power 5 offers.
As a freshman, Monk started 12 games at right tackle, and was part of an offensive line unit that was named to the Midseason Honor Roll for the Joe Moore Award for the Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit in College Football.
He started 11 games at right tackle as a sophomore for one of the best offenses in the conference.
As a junior, Monk started 12 games and helped the offensive line finish sixth in the ACC in fewest sacks allowed with 27, while protecting an offense that accumulated 5,011 yards of total offense. He earned an All-ACC Honorable Mention.
Monk played 11 games as a fourth year senior in 2022, and assisted the offense in accumulating 2,394 rushing and 3,010 passing yards. He once again earned an All-ACC Honorable Mention.
Monk returned for his fifth year with Duke in 2023, showing out again as he played 13 games, allowing just 1 sack on the year.
