Cohen played high school football at Central High School in Alabama. He was picked to play in the 2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame World Bowl in Cancun, Mexico. He was rated a four star prospect by Rivals.com and 247Sports, and a top 15 overall player in Alabama. He committed to Alabama during his senior season.
Cohen was named to the 2020 SEC All-Freshman team, and in 2021, he started 14 games at left guard, helping Alabama to finish 6th in the nation in scoring. In 2022, Cohen played in 12 games, starting 10 and was named to the second team All-SEC team.
After the season, Javion Cohen entered the transfer portal and elected to play at Miami in 2023. Cohen started at left guard vs. Miami, OH in the first Hurricanes game of 2023.
Cohen started 12 games for the Hurricanes in 2023. He was inconsistent to say the least, missing assignments at times and being a step too slow.
