Jenkins-Cowart attended Southeast Guilford High School in North Carolina. As a senior, he betted .433 with five home runs and 19 RBI, taking home all-conference honors. He was ranked the 17th best overall prospect in North Carolina and chose to join East Carolina following his high school career.
As a freshman with the Pirates, Jenkins-Cowart made an immediate impact. He started 62 of the Pirates' 64 games, and slashed .330/.367/.549 (average, on base %, slugging). He drove in 65 RBI and hit 13 home runs and 10 doubles. He was named a Freshman All-American by D1 Baseball.
Last season as a sophomore, Jenkins-Cowart started 60 games, slashing .294/.354/.491. He drove in 45 RBI with 9 home runs and 13 doubles. He was an All-AAC First Team selection despite his numbers falling a bit from his stellar freshman performance.
This year is Jenkins-Cowart's junior season. He looks to return to his freshman numbers and keep climbing boards ahead of this season's draft.
