Akheem Mesidor attended several Ottawa high schools and also at the Royal Imperial Collegiate of Canada in St. Catharines. He transferred to Clearwater Academy International in Clearwater, Florida before his senior year. He tallied 92 tackles, 10 sacks and forced 4 fumbles during his senior campaign. He was rated a 3-star recruit and committed to play football at West Virginia over offers from Pitt, UCLA, Georgia Tech and Syracuse.
Mesidor wasted no time becoming a force at West Virginia. In his true freshman season, he played in 10 games, starting 1. He finished the season with 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss and 5 sacks. He was named to the All-Big 12 second team as a freshman.
Mesidor played in 12 games in 2021 for the Mountaineers and once again was a steady force on the defensive line. He tallied 38 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks in another productive season for WVU. After the season, he entered the transfer portal and elected to play football at Miami, FL.
Last season, Mesidor played in 11 games, moving around between defensive end and defensive tackle for the Hurricanes. He once again had a steady season, collecting 38 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks and 1 forced fumble.
This season, Mesidor played in the first 2 games but then suffered a foot injury which forced him to miss the rest of the season.
