Trace Ford played high school football at Edmond Santa Fe High School in Oklahoma. He was a 4-star recruit by 247Sports and a 3-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals. He was also a consensus top-10 player out of Oklahoma in the 2019 class. The Oklahoman and the Tulsa World named him first team All-State and Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season. With several Division One offers, Ford eventually committed to Oklahoma State to play football for the Cowboys.
Ford’s freshman year saw him play in 13 games, and he started each of the last 6 games for the Cowboys. He played steadily and even received votes for Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. He tallied 29 tackles, 4 for a loss, 3 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.
In 2020, Ford played in all 10 games, starting 9 of them. Overall, he collected 22 tackles, 4.5 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. However, he missed the bowl game with a pair of torn knee ligaments. He missed the whole 2021 season due to his gruesome injuries and took a redshirt.
Last season, Ford played in 9 games, before missing the final 4 with another injury (broken knee cap). In the 9 games he was able to accrue 8 tackles and 1 sack for the Cowboys. He entered the transfer portal after the season and transferred to play for the Sooners.
This season, Ford has played in 13 games and has collected 18 tackles, 3.5 for a loss and 1 interception for the Sooners.
