Javon Solomon helped lead Godby High School to a combined 21-3 record and a pair of Florida 5A playoff appearances as a junior and a senior. He earned All-Big Bend honors after recording 73 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks as a senior. He received several scholarship offers, but eventually, he committed to Troy University.
As a freshman in 2019, Solomon redshirted after only playing sparingly in 3 games for the Trojans. Despite splitting snaps in 2020, Solomon finished 10th in the Sun Belt Conference with 25 total pressures. He was named to the All-Sun Belt Team as an honorable mention after collecting 29 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Javon Solomon turned in one of the best seasons in 2021 for Troy University. He started 12 games and finished with 50 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and 1 interception. He became just the 3rd FBS player since at least 2000 to record 12 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and 1 interception in the first 6 games of the season. He was named First Team All-Sun Belt Conference for his stellar play.
In 2022, Solomon took a slight step back in production, even though he was still named 3rd Team All-Sun Belt. He started 14 games and amassed 44 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks.
Javon Solomon put it all together in 2023 and was one of the most dominant edge rushers in the country. He was named First Team All-Sun Belt after setting career highs in every category. In 14 starts, he finished with 56 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss and 16 sacks for the Trojans. After the season, he decided to enter the NFL Draft.
