Amick attended P27 Academy in Tennessee where he was a three time letter winner and a member of the regional championship team. He chose to join Clemson after his high school career.
As a freshman at Clemson, Amick hit just .105 in 9 games with 3 starts at DH. He played in a summer league in Tennessee following his freshman year and vastly improved his game as shown by his sophomore year performance.
As a sophomore, Amick slashed .413/.464/.772 (average, on base %, slugging). He his 13 home runs and 17 doubles, driving in 63 RBI in 46 games. He played mostly first base and catcher in that season.
Amick decided to transfer to Tennessee following his sophomore campaign. He looks to continue his success from last season and solidify himself as a first round selection in this year's draft. He has been playing mostly third base for the Volunteers.
