DeMartini attended Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia. He lettered 4 times and played mostly shortstop. Through 14 games as a senior, he batted .571, logged a .730 on-base percentage and slugged 1.500 while tallying 19 runs, 20 hits, five doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 14 RBIs and 15 walks. He chose to join Virginia Tech following his high school career.
DeMartini made an immediate impact as a freshman, slashing .341/.452/.659 (average, on base %, slugging). He hit 15 home runs and 14 doubles, driving in 50 RBI in his 59 games played (58 starts). He made the ACC All-Freshman Team and was a consensus Freshman All-American.
Last season as a sophomore, DeMartini slashed .323/.455/.593, hitting 10 home runs and 13 doubles, and tallying 57 RBI.
This year is DeMartini's junior year with the Hokies. He looks to keep up his success at the plate and keep climbing draft boards.
