Jaishawn Barham grew up in District Heights, Maryland and attended Saint Frances Academy, where he was rated a four-star prospect at linebacker. Coming out of high school he was raned the eighth-best linebacker in the class of 2021 and held offers from Penn State, South Carolina, Maryland, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. He originally committed to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks, but ultimately decided to flip his commitment to play for his hims state Maryland Terrapins.
Barham started on day one at Maryland and in his first year started all 12 games and totaled 59 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, four sacks, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble. For his performance, Barham was named honorable mention All-Big Ten, and named a Freshman All-American by College Football News. The 6-foot-3 linebacker once again was named honorable mention All-Big Ten after this sophomore season. He stated 11 games for the Terrapins and collected 37 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, three sacks, and one intercption.
At the end of the 2023 season, Barham entered the NCAA transfer portal and moved on to Ann Arbo to the University of Michigan prior to the 2024 season.
