Mikail Kamara attended Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn, Virginia. He had 16 sacks his junior year and 15 his senior year. He was named the Region 5C Defensive Player of the Year his senior season and committed to James Madison University.
As a freshman, Kamara started all six games in the COVID-19 shortened season, and recorded 16 tackles and three sacks. After missing the 2021 season due to injury and redshirting, he played in five games in 2022 and had 14 tackles and four sacks. The redshirt junior turned some heads in 2023 when he started all 12 games and registered 52 tackles and 7.5 sacks.
After the 2023 season, Kamara entered the transfer portal and transferred to Indiana University. In his first sesaon at Indiana, the fifth-year defensive end had an amazing season transitioning into Division 1 football. He started 12 games and collected 44 tackles, 10 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss, and two forced fumbles. He was named first team All-Big 10 for his performance.
