Sai’vion Jones played his high school football at Saint James High School and as a junior, he made 103 tackles, 13 TFL, 13 sacks and 25 quarterback hurries. He earned Class 3A MVP honors after leading his team to a 15-0 record and the school’s first state title since 1979. As a senior, he tallied 75 tackles, 20 TFL, 10 sacks and 23 quarterback hurries and was once again named Class 3A MVP. He was also named as first team all-state and was listed as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals.com. ESPN had him as a three-star recruit. He chose LSU over several other power five offers.
In his freshman season with LSU, Jones played in 11 games with no starts. He made three tackles and had no other stats due to such limited playing time. In his sophomore season, he played in 14 games with three starts and made his impact known, collecting 23 tackles including six TFL and 4.5 sacks. This was impressive given his limited snaps, but he earned himself a starting role for his junior season in 2023.
In 2023, Jones started 13 games and totaled 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He decided to return to LSU for his senior season.
