Kyle Kennard was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Over his final two seasons he collected more than 100 tackles, with 40 tackles for loss. Kennard was a three-star prospect who committed to play football at Georgia Tech University.
Kennard became a significant contributor at defensive end down the stretch during his true-freshman season for Georgia Tech, collecting 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks in six games. He kept the momentum into his sophomore season and played 12 games with two starts and finished the season with 15 tackles and two sacks. In 2022, Kennard played in all 12 games, making nine starts, and he amassed 36 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks.
Kennard improved greatly in his fourth season at Georgia Tech. He played in 12 games, while starting six, and recorded 54 tackles and led the Yellow Jackets in tackles for loss (11) and sacks (6). He was also credited with tow forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.
After the season Kennard decided to leave Georgia Tech to play football at South Carolina.
