Shemar Stewart was born in Miami, Florida and attended Monsignor Pace Academy, where he played football and became one of the top recruits in the 2022 class. He received a No. 7 rating from ESPN, No. 9 from 247Sports, and No. 12 from USA Today and was a two sport athlete, playing both football and basketball. He was also rated as the top edge rusher in the 2022 class and accepted a scholarship from Texas A&M.
As a freshman, Turner played in all 12 games, making six starts. He finished the season picking up 23 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and 1.5 sacks. He earned the defensive Top Newcomer award at the annual team banquet.
Turner played in all 13 games as a sophomore, making one start in the Texas Bowl against Oklahoma State. On the season, he collected 11 tackles, 1.5 and recovered and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
